Emergency & Critical Care
Veterinary emergency and critical care veterinarians are board-certified specialists who deal with the urgent needs of severely injured or sick pets. They often work at a special facility that’s open during the hours when regular veterinary clinics are closed or on-call 24 hours a day.
Emergency vets treat a wide range of issues, from cats that swallowed poison to dogs who got hit by cars. They need to have a lot of different skills and be able to adapt quickly. For example, if a pet’s owner can’t afford the recommended treatments, the emergency veterinarian has to come up with alternate solutions.
At GSVS, our emergency and critical care service is available to clients referred by their primary veterinarian or those who walk in. The first step is triage, which involves assessing the severity of the pet’s condition and assigning a priority to each case. From there, the medical team works to stabilise the pet so that treatment can begin.
General Veterinary Services

It can also alert us to any abnormal lumps or bumps on the skin that may require further evaluation.
Our full-time groomer is Victoria Berges, who has over twelve years of experience and is familiar with breed standards. She will work with you to ensure that your pet is comfortable and has the best possible outcome with their grooming appointment.
We offer bathing and grooming Monday – Friday (bathing only on Saturday) by appointment. Please call to schedule your appointment and drop off your pet between 8:30-9am. All pets coming in for grooming/bathing must be up to date on their rabies, distemper, canine influenza, and kennel cough vaccines. Please bring a copy of your pet’s vaccination records with you on grooming day.
